No Representation in the City

Every –one who knows me personally understands that I Lurrvvvvvvvvvvvve  Diddy.  Yes guys I may be one of the only two fans that Puff has left.   His appeal to me is simple; he has self respect in the deepest sense of the word.   Not in a Common or Mos Def  kind of way but, he is just himself and very, very comfortable with that.  Bearing in mind that dude is an entertainer not a pastor so please stop trying to hold people to values systems that not even Ghandi could live up to.  We live in a culture where we spend all of our time worrying about how the rich and famous are living and the truth is they’re doing just fine, they do not need our prayers or criticisms as much as we need theirs maybe if we were focused on what we doing in our own lives and not worrying about how many baby mothers somebody has we would be rich too.
I love any man that exudes confidence especially if he has the goods to back it up.  Puff is a self made millionaire; he looks after his children and his mother.   Finally he is proud to be a part of the black community; he has been known to speak out on important issues that are Impacting the African American community. (Think back to the Obama election campaign)
As an academic I’m mostly surrounded by people who believe that you have to be a part of the clannish academic community with letters behind your name in order to add value to the various theories that drive dysfunction in the black community.  Now, don’t get me wrong my academic career though in its infancy has been amazing and I greatly value my education however, its the school of life where the real work of self development begins; not in a class room.

Aghhhhh man that hair is a hot mess

Any –one from the hip-hop community be it UK or USA can reach more people in one interview than Dr Paul Gilroy(I luv you Dr G) so the wider community need to recognise the invaluable knowledge that these individuals impart weather it’s positive or negative; rap culture is  and will always be the pulse of the youth.  If you really want to know ‘wha ah gwarn wid de youth dem’ , listen to some Hip-hop.
Political figures of black London like Diane Abbott and David  Lammy do not live in the London that I do, nor that of many other family members as these two left the bosom of this particular community way back in the day.  Of course institutions of race keep them bound to us through force and the media will roll them out like dummies every time they want our input but I know our mutual racial heritage does in no way link our experiences or create common understanding.  I want to be able to vote for some-one who I actually respect, who does not think rocking up with a face that could be my mothers or brothers is enough.  The riots were a warning sign family. We need to stand up!  All of us.

Diddy for demonstrating savvy business acumen while 'keeping it fresh to death' I salute you. take dat, take dat....
