Hey Family,
It is back to school season; if you didn’t already know. This academic year will be my last as an MA student and I can honestly say It has been tough in every way especially on the pocket ya feel me? Today student life has been especially exciting as I received confirmation of my course choices and It has filled me with a mixture of hope, curiosity and excitement.
Hope that firstly I will enjoy this module; secondly that it will improve my knowledge of my subject. Someday paying dividends and not merely sinking into a sea of other liberal arts degrees and serve only to keep me in a whirlwind of debt. I also feel some curiosity when it comes to the other students and finally excitement. When college begins it will reminds me of my life plan. Why I’m working so hard this adds sparkle to my daily life as I travel toward my future feeding me the motivation needed to keep me going when I feel like I can’t go on.
So what’s my point? I just wanted to shout out every other person out there on the come up. At times it can be sooooooooooooo hard trying to keep it together in order to overcome the hurdles of life and stay focused. This week, a sistah-friend began practicing in her profession, her first post since graduating from University and I am truly inspired by her sheer determination. Another family member’s business has taken her abroad for the past six months, It’s that serious. She will take the world by storm, I can already see she has success written all over her as she is one of the most hard working people I know.
I have found myself surrounded by some truly incredible people during the past few years and it is great to be able to say that my friends are all doing phenomenal things which not only builds them up as individuals but strengthens all of us who are watching. After the recent civil unrest in the city these sistahs and others like them plant seeds of hope within our community that we so desperately need. It is also really nice to be able to look at a shining star that have not been given to us by America although you know I love those role models too. (R.I.P Tupac Shakur)
