Niggas In Paris?

Dear Family Members,

By now I know you have all heared about the Gwyneth Paltrow controversey. Yet again the black community is up in arms about what a European has to say because they find the use of this word by a Caucasion offensive. Periodically there is always some fool saying some-thing inapropriate in a public forum however it is clear to me that this is just an honest expression of how they view us. ( I support freedom of speech) As for the various sellout Rappers coming out in support of Ms Paltrow. Please have a seat. These are the same sorts of individuals that the media roll out when they want a black prospective, however  they are completely useless at putting words into action or actually doing any-thing to improve the condition of  black folk; by making any sort of meaningful contribution. They just love to talk, talk, talk about our problems on records and sell our dysfuction without a concious to make Fiddy cent.

We all need to take up our positions as men and women of African heritage and just stop using this word altogether.  I use this word all the time, but I know it's wrong. I will not spout any foolishness about the meaning of the word being reclaimed and changed by the youth and Hip-Hop.  The suffering and painful legacy attached to this word cannot be ignored. When people from our community give other racial groups a pass in the name of friendship or partnership it really turns my stomach. We all know some-one  from another racial group who live closely with one of our's and 'Think they know'. Well Mr/s I have a black baby mother/friend/husband please stay in your lane; the use of such language is always inapropriate. ALWAYS.

  1. Unfortunately, 'Niggas in Paris' is the name of the song and she perhaps inappropriately tweeted the name of the song being played whilst she was at the concert. Had the song been "Playas in Paris" of course there would be no complaints. If we use it as a song title, then can we blame others for using it (rhetorical question). This word keeps rearing its ugly head in music with the other assuming it's ok to say. And now with people replacing niggas with ninjas or other phrases, I don't believe it will be eliminated from our vernacular. How can we stop people from saying it - particularly in music? what about other words such as Bitch or ho?

    1. Well said Dani.

I believe in Freedom of speech. it just annoys me when black liberals who are often have the most reasources in our community, criticise other's when they themselves who often have more than most encourage this behavior either by creating songs with this word in the title or some other bs. They love to jump on the soap box when no doubt next week it will be their freind doing the same thing. I do not want to be the word police but COME ON.
