I was a typical city black woman and wanted the kind of hair that blew in the wind so I bought some. I wanted to be deemed attractive by black city men and they seemed to love the sister's with flowing locks rather than the coily crown. The minute I started rocking my weaves men flocked to me and women admired my do as they knew the cost implication of such a great hair style. Later it became a beauty crutch for me and I felt most beautiful with other peoples hair on my head I look back on that girl and I just want to give her a big hug. Apologise for making her look so damn stupid with silly hair extensions and pick out her fro. Now brothers love me because I love me and couldn't give a damn about my hair.

I am loving Solange Knowles without the weave |
I have wasted my resources on weave, clothes and various other foolishness that I didn't really need over the years. While I have always had some financial control my respect for my money and how I spend it has peaked in more recent years and I only plan to increase my blessings by using what I have wisely. So the future generations that bear my name, will not have to work in nobodies job, live in nobodies house, and take nobodies high interest credit. Ya heard!
3. Happiness is a Choice
I used to believe I was cursed, when things that I percieved as negative would take place in my life. You know how older heads would say 'bwoy yu salt' or yu nah hav no luck pure crosses ah come down pon yu' Not understanding that my life was actually a reflection of what was going on inside me. My thoughts, my spiritual life and my relationships with others all symbolised the where I was in my journey which was reflected in my daily experience. Poor me, I didn't realise I had the power to change any-thing I didn't like, as some how I missed this memo. Today is a brand new day people, like every-one else some days are better than other's but I am the one that chooses to have a good day or a bad day regardless of variable factors. When things are bad I look for the lesson and healing in the situation and try my best to keep moving with a smile on my face.

2. Make Sure the People in Your life Deserve To Be There
This is one that I am still working on. In my past life I just loved to entertain the energy vampires, playa haters and the drama directors. Not to mention the passa, passa that came with it. Not realising that their were people in the world who had similar value systems to my own. Today the key playa's in my life are not only good friends but are actually phenomenal people in their own right which allows me to burn as brightly as I want to without having to reduce the glare. Shout out to my front line crew, you done know!!!
1. Love is the Centre
Even as I'm writing this I know it sounds so cheesy and Oprah like but yet it is soooooooooooo true. By developing and growing and simply being your authentic self you demonstrate self love. From this foundation all other success is built. I am really trying to take time from this here crazy city schedule to make time for my self that we all really need but seldom take due to life's many commitments. As it allows me to develop, learn, think and grow. If we are not growing folks what exactly are we doing?
